The subsidiary of Naturgy Group and the Regional Government of Galicia are promoting dual vocational training to boost the employability of young people.
Ferrol, 1 February 2019. Today, a total of 14 students from the higher-level Heat Production Installations training programme at CIFP Ferrolterra are beginning their practical training at the installations of NEDGIA Galicia under the agreement signed with the Regional Government of Galicia to promote Dual Vocational Training in Galicia.
Over the seven months that this work experience programme will last, and which will be repeated with new students every year until 2021, young people will receive practical training from NEDGIA Galicia in implementation and maintenance techniques for the gas distribution network and its associated ancillary installations (regulation and measurement stations or LNG and LPG plants, etc.). The future technicians will also receive basic training on industrial safety, occupational risk prevention and specific aspects related to this business.
The students from the new Dual Vocational Training project at the education centre in Ferrol, who began their course in September, will undertake almost half of the 2,000 hours of training required to complete the course at NEDGIA Galicia work centres.
This initiative stems from the agreement signed between the distribution company of Naturgy Group in Galicia and the Regional Culture, Education and University Planning Council to promote Dual Vocational Training through a system of grants and to boost the employability of young people in Galicia. This type of education allows students to combine their training at the education centre with learning at a company for three years in order to adapt their practical knowledge to the productive needs of the company and prepare themselves for the future labour market.
Contribution to the employability of young people
The agreement signed with the Regional Government of Galicia strengthens the commitment made to society by NEDGIA Galicia and its contribution to helping young people find work. The company has included Dual Vocational Training into its strategic lines of action on training and human resources, and wishes to actively participate in transforming the education and professional model with this type of training that combines educational training with work experience to adapt to the current reality in the labour market. The company intends to spread Dual Vocational Training to other regions where it operates.
