Technical operations

These are the main technical operations that your distribution company will carry out to certify the correct and safe operation of your natural gas installation.

These operations are generated for different reasons: at the request of the supply companies, due to distribution company campaigns, or, as the case may be, at the request of the customer.

Main technical operations

Closure at the request of the supply company

Gas supply cut-off operation carried out by the distributor due to outstanding debt with the supply company. To do so, the engineer will cut-off, block and seal the installation until the customer settles the debt.

If your supply is interrupted for this reason and you wish the installation to be reopened, contact your supplier who will advise you on the steps to follow.

Reopening of installation due to debt repayment

Operation to put your individual installation into service after a previous shutdown at the request of the supply company.

To do this, the technician will test the tightness of your installation and check that your boiler or heater performs combustion correctly if technically possible. The customer needs to be present during the operation. In case of absence, a notice will be left with all the necessary information to resume the supply.

If your supply has been interrupted due to a shutdown at the request of the supply company and you wish the installation to be reopened, contact your supply company who will advise you on the steps to follow.

Supply disconnection

This implies rescission of the contract and steps to ensure the safe status of the individual installation. The engineer will remove the meter and leave the installation in a safe condition.

If you wish to request a supply termination, please contact your supply company to terminate the contract.

Meter status check and reading

The distributor will check for any visible and/or testable anomaly that might be preventing correct meter function and, if found, replace it.

If you request this operation, there will be costs for the customer if the meter is functioning correctly or if its replacement is requested while it is in working order. Find out about the rates here.

You can request this operation through your supply company.

In any case, if the customer wishes for an official meter verification, they must first request it from the competent body of their autonomous community.

Meter replacement

In this operation, the technician will replace the existing meter with another one, carrying out the appropriate checks.

Periodic inspection

Operation of legally required inspection of gas installation and equipment. More information.

Meter removal for building work

Operation to dismantle the meter due to work or refurbishment of the installation. During this operation, the engineer will shut off, block and seal the installation, leaving the disassembled meter at the customer’s property. You can apply for it through your supply company.

Reopening of Individual Receiving Installation (IRI)

Operation for connecting your individual installation. To do so, the engineer will conduct a leak test on your installation, check that your boiler or heater is burning correctly and check that any other irregularity leading to the disconnection of the installation has been rectified. If unusual or incorrect meter operation is also detected, this may also be replaced.

These operations are generated after a previous shutdown due to anomalies detected in the installation or at the customer's request after a meter has been lifted due to works or if the installation has undergone a modification and there is a certificate. Find out how much it costs.

You can apply for it through your supply company.

The individual receiving installation (IRI) is the set of pipes and accessories located, depending on the case, between: the user’s valve, when a common installation exists, or the connection or building valve, when supplying a single user.
