Nedgia highlights the role of green gas and technology neutrality in advancing the decarbonisation of buildings

On 16 September, Nedgia took part in the 6th Green Renovation & Sustainability Forum organised by CESINE in Madrid under the slogan ‘Renovate to Decarbonise: How to Meet Green Targets’. The event brought together professionals and experts in energy-efficient renovation to discuss solutions that would reduce building emissions in an efficient and viable manner, whilst meeting consumer needs.

Various case studies on energy-efficient renovation were presented during the event. They included work on 106 flats in the Edificio Europa in Albacete, where a hybrid solution was implemented to improve the building’s energy efficiency. This experience highlighted the importance of promoting well-developed and accessible projects that combine sustainability, technical feasibility and cost control for users.

An energy transition based on reducing emissions

During the round-table discussion that followed, Robert Gauxax, a representative of Nedgia, argued that decarbonisation should be approached from a technology-neutral perspective, advocating a combination of different energy solutions tailored to the characteristics of each building and the needs of its occupants.

In this context, he highlighted the role that green gas can play in accelerating building decarbonisation. Thanks to its renewable nature and the possibility of utilising existing gas infrastructure, green gas can reduce emissions efficiently, minimising additional investment and facilitating a more affordable energy transition for households, owners’ associations and industries.

Gauxax also pointed out that Nedgia supports owners’ associations in their energy-efficiency renovation projects by providing grants and financial assistance to replace or modernise heating systems with state-of-the-art gas equipment, thereby promoting measures that improve energy efficiency and help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.

“Decarbonisation should aim to reduce emissions, not to impose technologies. Achieving climate targets requires a combination of electrification, energy efficiency and renewable gases to make the most of all available solutions.”

Green gas: a solution for consumers

Nedgia’s participation in forums of this kind enables it to promote a consumer-centred vision of the energy transition, highlighting solutions that help reduce emissions without compromising on competitiveness or affordability.

In this regard, green gas is emerging as an alternative that can utilise existing gas networks to supply renewable energy to homes and buildings, contributing to a faster, more efficient and accessible transition to a low-carbon economy for customers. By combining different technologies and renewable energy sources, progress can be made towards climate targets whilst maintaining flexibility and ensuring that every user can find the solution that best suits their needs.
